Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial,
Las Vegas

The Police Memorial Wall was created by a group of city and Metro employees to honor members of the Southern Nevada law enforcement community who have passed away. Families and friends were invited to purchase bricks in memory of their loves ones. Those bricks will comprise the memorial wall.
Police Memorial Wall is a tribute to those who have served unconditionally and have given an incredible gift to Southern Nevada. The 181 people whose names appear on the wall gave Southern Nevada the ultimate gift anyone can give to another – their lives, day in and day out – so that we might live in peace and safety.

The Memorial Run
The relay is designed to honor fallen law enforcement officers and support current ones. It precedes National Police Memorial Week, May 11-17.
The runners start the first leg of the weeklong relay north on U.S. Highway 95. The route is divided into 126 legs, one for each fallen officer, with each day’s distance ranging from 45 miles to 82 miles.

The 2014 Memorial Run
The 2014 Law Enforcement Memorial Run is the 15th year of the relay. Sheriff Douglas Gillespie participated in the ceremonies by speaking and starting the first leg of the relay. This year the baton was inscribed with the name of search and rescue officer David VanBuskirk, who gave his life last year rescuing a citizen.
