An Honor to Serve the Fallen
The Honor Guard proudly serves the City of Las Vegas, the County of Clark and Law Enforcement Communities across the United States in performing military-style honors during funeral services of officers killed in the line of duty as well as for deaths of current or retired law enforcement officers. They also represent the LVMPD for line-of-duty deaths in other jurisdictions in the Southwestern United States. Duties performed include standing post at caskets, flag ceremonies, twenty-one gun salutes and the playing of Taps. By the appropriate rendering of honors, the Honor Guard endeavors to provide closure to the families of officers killed in the line of duty.
The Honor Guard traditionally appears at prestigious ceremonies in Washington D.C. and in Carson City, NV, for the state memorial where fallen officers names are etched on the monument walls. In order to send representatives to these events, the group conducts fundraisers and/or spends money out of their own pocket. Due to monetary restrictions, the Honor Guard is typically only able to send a portion of their all-volunteer membership to these very important annual events.
This year, however, the Honor Guard has endeavored to send their full contingent of 30 members to honor Officer Charleston Hartfield in Carson City, NV and Washington D.C. when his name is added to the monuments. You can assist us in our goal by participating in our fundraising events, purchasing some of our fundraising merchandise, or by simply making a donation.
